American Mine Services was founded in 1967 with MSHA ID number X02, serving the mining and civil construction industries in the evaluation, design, and construction of mines, excavations, and tunnels. AMS’s services have been in high demand worldwide, with projects throughout North America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. These projects have provided AMS the opportunity to work with virtually every commercially viable mineral or metal resource.

Joe Cooper began his career with American Mine Services in 1985, and became president and owner in 1997. Under his leadership, the company continued to grow, completing hundreds of safe and successful projects. Between 2005 and 2016, operations were temporarily interrupted, as the AMS leadership and personnel became part of a major civil contractor. American Mine Services is now back in operation and serving clients across the United States.

American Mine Services operations are centered at the company-owned complex located on 16½ acres of land in Jefferson County near Golden, Colorado. This complex houses corporate management and staff, a four-bay fabrication and repair shop, and a parts/supply warehouse. The company owned fleet of equipment is housed and maintained at this facility when not in use on projects.
